We love writing with good quality fountain pens, writing instruments and paper so it was only natural for us to create the Writer’s Bloc store to share what we love with others that have the same passion, and to inspire others to develop a love for writing.
Our first retail shop opened in 2007 on NW 23 Avenue in Portland, Oregon – the home of rain, flowers, rain, lots of craft breweries and some great coffee. In the autumn of 2014 we made a big move to Houston, Texas. When we first started we had a large display of our favorite Eurogames and focused on a variety of pens, unique journals, office supplies and stationery from Asia that we love. Many customers would come in and ask for their favorite writing materials such as Rhodia and Clairefontaine paper so we decided to order it and expand our selection.
Tourists from across the USA and Canada would often stop by our shop and exclaim that they wished they could find the same quality writing materials back home! These customers inspired us to open our online store to make high quality pens and paper available even in the remotest part of America. When it comes to waiting for a package to arrive, we’re as impatient as the next guy. Our goal is to ship as many orders as possible within 1-2 business days by the fastest, most economical method possible so that customers won’t have to wait long for an order to arrive.
We founded the Writer’s Bloc Blog in 2008 to assist writers and online shoppers in several ways. One way is by giving them enough details about a product that they can feel as if they are in the store looking at the actual product itself. It provides how-to instructions for both beginning and advanced fountain pen users.
The idea behind Writer’s Bloc is to help people create a writing system for themselves using something special. The experience of taking pen to paper and writing should be inspiring and fun and we try to provide high quality products to enhance this experience. We’re very selective about the products we sell – if we wouldn’t use it ourselves we don’t sell it.
